Project Finance Associate | Investment Banking

Position Overview:

We are looking for an IBD Associate in New York.  As an Associate specializing in the renewable energy sector, you will be crucial in supporting the origination, structuring, and execution of project finance transactions. You will work closely with the Director of Capital Markets to evaluate investment opportunities, conduct financial analysis, and develop financing strategies for renewable energy projects across various technologies and geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Analysis: Perform in-depth financial analysis, including financial modeling, valuation, and risk assessment, to evaluate the feasibility and profitability of renewable energy projects.

• Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive due diligence on potential investment opportunities, assessing project economics, regulatory frameworks, market dynamics, and other relevant factors.

• Deal Structuring: Assist in structuring financing solutions tailored to the specific requirements of renewable energy projects, considering various debt, equity, and tax equity structures.

• Documentation: Prepare investment memos, pitch presentations, term sheets, and other transaction-related documents to facilitate discussions with clients, investors, and counterparties.

• Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, investors, lenders, and government agencies, to source deal opportunities and facilitate successful project execution.

• Market Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, policy developments, and emerging technologies in the renewable energy sector to identify investment opportunities and mitigate risks.

• Project Management: Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including legal, technical, and environmental professionals, to manage the execution of financing transactions from inception to closure.

• Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards throughout the deal lifecycle.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.

• 4+ years of experience in investment banking, project finance, renewable energy finance, or related fields.

• Strong financial modeling skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with financial software and databases preferred.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills, with attention to detail.

• Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, project development processes, and financing structures.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
