Consult Energy’s Best Moments of 2020

Date Added: 22.12.20

2020 has been quite the year for everyone. From the pandemic to Brexit to economy crashes to major shifts in social justice, this year has been pretty eventful to say the least. For many, the new year can’t come quickly enough.

In all seriousness, we know that a lot of people are still reeling from the events of the past 12 months and perhaps aren’t as hopeful about the year ahead as they usually would be at this time of year. While there’s no right way to process what we’ve all been through, we firmly believe that there’s a silver lining to every cloud.

We’re very lucky that the energy and utilities industries have mostly still thrived this year, meaning we didn’t experience much of a slow down and many of our clients are still hiring.

As a business we’ve not only managed to get through 2020 unscathed, but we’ve actually met our goals for the year and are looking forward to growing even more in 2021. There have been plenty of highs to counterbalance the lows: from growing our USA team from a one-person operation to a team of five, to carving out a niche in renewables and EV.

Instead of focusing on the negatives, of which there are plenty, we decided to focus on some of the positives from the last year in the hope of spreading a little festive joy. Without further ado, here’s our roundup of Consult Energy’s highlights of 2020 – both personal and professional.

Katie Stevenson, Operations Manager

“For me, the business allowing me to have the opportunity to complete my CIPD Level 5 has been a real highlight to the year. Next year I’ll be transitioning into more of a HR focused role, which is something I’m really looking forward to.”

Will Vamplew, Director of US Operations

“In addition to managing to get abroad pre-Covid to the US and Krakow, I also survived Covid after testing positive – that basically makes me indestructible right?

Business for Consult USA has flown in 2020 too, here are my best moments:

  • Grew my US team from 1 at the start of the year to 5

  • We signed 25 new clients

  • Started the Visa process to move to the US

  • Tripled revenue from 2020 despite 2 lockdowns and a global pandemic

  • Began the creation of a new website”

Mia Weston, Senior Marketing Manager

“This year has been really eventful, in a good way. Not only did I get promoted to work on the Consult marketing and brand, which I love, but I also moved house. I somehow managed to get even closer with my fantastic team even while working remotely. And of course, I got my own little addition to the Weston household: a grumpy cat called Maurice.”

Stacey Harris, Senior Consultant – Change & Operations

“Some of the highlights from 2020 include beating our interview record – and in a lockdown no less! I also landed our first ever placements with 6 new clients in addition to getting to focus in on a niche patch; regulations and compliance.”

Lily Moore, Head of Data/Energy Analytics

“In 2020 I’ve beaten the value of deals I did in 2019, which I’m very proud of. I’ve also built very strong relationships with clients who come back to me repeatedly with roles. I can honestly say I’m going into 2021 in the strongest position I’ve ever been in work wise and I can’t wait to see what the year ahead holds. Oh, and I got a puppy!”

Joseph Hewitt, Head of Business Change and Operations

“I’d have to say becoming a father and seeing the birth my twins takes the top spot as the best moment of 2020. Career wise it’s also been a great year as I got promoted and broke Consult Energy’s interview record.”

It’s been wonderful to see our team achieve their goals this year against all odds and as a business we feel very fortunate to be closing 2020 with such a great group of people.

We’re always keen to speak to talented people looking to make a name for themselves in energy & utilities recruitment. If you’d like to find out more about joining our USA or UK team, don’t hesitate to check out our Work For Us page or get in touch.
